Friday, July 1, 2016 (All day)
Almost immediately after the New York State’s legislative session ended (mid-June) the highest ranking democrat in the NYS Senate, Sen. Andrea Stewart-Cousins paid a visit to our Radiological Research Facility (RARAF). Senator Stewart-Cousins represents a vast area just north of NYC that includes the town of Irvington, NY where Columbia University maintains it NEVIS laboratories and is also the site of RARAF. During her visit we discussed the history of the Nevis site and RARAF, the specific and unique utilization of our microbeam technology, the homeland security research, sponsored by NIH and BARDA, that has been performed by our team of scientists, as well as our desire and focus to establish a carbon ion research facility to aid in fight against pancreatic cancer. After this short presentation, the Senator was able to take a tour of the facility that highlighted our singletron accelerator with the attached microbeam technologies and the spaces to be used for the proposed carbon ion research.
